What is the Sacro-Occipital Technique?

The Sacro-Occipital Technique, or S.O.T., is a gentle chiropractic technique developed by Dr. Major Bertrand DeJarnette in the 1920s. It looks at the relationship between the sacrum, at the base of the spine, and the occiput, at the back of the skull, and everything in between. It is how Dr. Doyle adjusts.

What happens in an S.O.T. adjustment?

Padded wedges, called blocks, often go under the pelvis while you lie on the table, and low-force corrections follow instead of quick twists. Many visits also include reflexology to the spinal muscles and relaxing cranial adjusting maneuvers. As one patient put it: “Treatment is gentle and no crazy movements.”
